Best Camping Grills of 2026

Grills, griddles and pizza ovens our reviews rate for a campsite.

At a campsite you want something light, quick to set up and happy on uneven ground.

Small propane grills and griddles are the easiest. A compact charcoal grill gives the best flavor.

We tested 47 camping grills for this guide. Most of them do well on value for money. Where most fall short is how long they last, so that is where the picks below stand apart.

Best camping grill overallWeber Traveler Compact Portable Gas Grill

Black Weber Traveler Compact open on its folding X-frame on a rock, lid closed, rucksack and rolled mat behind

Buy the Compact if the back of your car is what decides the argument. It keeps the bigger Traveler's iron, its lever and its wheels. Nine inches come back for a hundred dollars. What it takes is elbow room on the grate, and there is none to spare.

Good to know: The five-year headline reaches the cookbox and lid only; the lever and hinges doing every trip's work sit in the two-year bracket.

Gas grill. Avid Griller Score 8.3 out of 10.

Best for the moneyWeber Smokey Joe 14 Charcoal Grill

Black Weber Smokey Joe 14 kettle on a patio, lid on, chrome bail handle raised, silver ash catcher below the tripod legs

The Smokey Joe is the whole Weber kettle argument, shrunk and priced at $54.99. Two dampers, porcelain enamel, and ten years on the parts that rust. Just settle what the grate is made of before you decide how to look after it.

Why it won this award: At $54.99 the bowl and lid carry the same ten years Weber puts on kettles costing several times more.

Good to know: Porcelain wipes down and the catcher lifts away, but the feature list names no One-Touch sweep to push ash into it.

Charcoal grill. Avid Griller Score 8.1 out of 10.

Best camping gas grillCuisinart Chef's Style Stainless Tabletop Grill

Cuisinart CGG-306P stainless tabletop gas grill, lid closed, standing on a rock outdoors with a backpack behind it

The CGG-306P is a small grill with a full-size appetite for fuel. Buy it for the two knobs and the dense heat. Do not buy it for the word tabletop. It is a tabletop grill whose fuel will never fit on the table.

Good to know: Stainless grates scrub easily, but Cuisinart prices a replacement grate at $56.50, roughly a quarter of what the whole grill costs.

Gas grill. Avid Griller Score 8.3 out of 10.

Best camping charcoal grillWeber Go-Anywhere Charcoal Grill

Weber Go-Anywhere charcoal grill on a pickup tailgate in a stadium car park, wire legs folded down

You are not buying grate here. You are buying a shape that closes. It is a very good shape.

Good to know: No ash catcher is published, while the $54.99 Smokey Joe lists one, so spent ash leaves this box by hand.

Charcoal grill. Avid Griller Score 7.8 out of 10.

Best camping griddleChar-Broil Performance 22 Tabletop Griddle

Char-Broil 22-inch tabletop gas griddle on a rock outdoors, black body, two control knobs, mountains behind

The Performance Series 22 puts a full-size plate and a serious fire on a tabletop. The weak link is neither the steel nor the burners. It is the bottle hanging off the side. Buy the griddle, then buy cylinders in quantity.

Good to know: Two years covers every part equally, and the bare steel plate rusts the moment one wet weekend is forgotten.

Gas griddle. Avid Griller Score 8.3 out of 10.

Best camping pizza ovenGozney Roccbox Pizza Oven

Gozney Roccbox on its folding legs on a steel outdoor table, gas burner attached at the side

The Roccbox answers its own question with a yes, for the right cook. Its small door is the whole design: it keeps the floor hot and your pizza small. If 11 inch pies suit you, this is a tough, safe and fierce oven. At around $399, it earns its place.

Good to know: The 3.5 inch mouth leaves little room to launch and spin a pie, and 44 lb is heavy work for a carry-anywhere oven.

Gas pizza oven. Avid Griller Score 8.3 out of 10.

Best camping grill under $150Nexgrill Fortress 1-Burner Tabletop Grill

Nexgrill Fortress tabletop grill on a weathered deck in low evening light, lid closed, four black legs, one control knob

The Fortress 1-Burner put its budget into metal instead of flame. It is patient rather than fierce, and it cooks that way. Light it early and keep the lid shut, and the trade pays. Open it every two minutes and it never will.

Good to know: Piezo lighting is a one-press job, but nothing reads the heat back and there is no surface to put anything down on.

Gas grill. Avid Griller Score 8.3 out of 10.

Best camping grill under $300Broil King Porta-Chef 120

Broil King Porta-Chef 120 portable gas grill, lid closed, black cast cook box with stainless lid face, standing on four black snap-in legs

The Porta-Chef 120 packs into a box one person can lift. Its fuel does not. Accept that and you get Broil King cook box material and 14,000 BTU on cast iron. Refuse it and almost any cylinder portable is less trouble.

Good to know: Electronic ignition and precise valves are good, but four legs, two shelves and a refillable tank make every setup work.

Gas grill. Avid Griller Score 8.2 out of 10.

Questions people ask

What is the best camping grill?

Our top pick is the Weber Traveler Compact Portable Gas Grill. Buy the Compact if the back of your car is what decides the argument. It keeps the bigger Traveler's iron, its lever and its wheels.

What is the best value camping grill?

The Weber Smokey Joe 14 Charcoal Grill. At $54.99 the bowl and lid carry the same ten years Weber puts on kettles costing several times more.

How much should I spend on a camping grill?

Most of the camping grills we tested cost between $110 and $400. Our top pick costs about $349. Across all our scores, paying more buys a little, and much less than the price tag suggests.

Can you bring a grill to a campsite?

Usually yes, but check the campground rules and any fire restrictions first. Dry seasons often bring bans on charcoal and open fires. Some campgrounds still allow propane grills during a ban.

How do you put out charcoal at a campsite?

Close the lid and vents to starve the coals of air. Then drown them with water and stir until they are cold to the touch. Never leave hot coals behind, and use the ash bins provided.

Can you use a camping grill inside a tent?

Never. Gas and charcoal grills give off carbon monoxide. It builds up fast in a tent or camper. Cook outside, well away from the tent and any dry brush.
