We pick the Weber Genesis E-325 Gas Grill
The E-325 is the better grill and, at the time of writing, the cheaper one. That makes this an easy call, with one caveat. Both cook on 513 sq in of primary grate fed by the same 39,000 BTU across three burners. The E-325 adds a 13,000 BTU sear zone burner under the same grate, taking heat density from 76 to 101 BTU per square inch, and sells near $849 against the sear-less E-315 at $899. The caveat: Weber dropped the E-325 from its own range in August 2026.
What actually differs
-
A fourth burner you can switch on alone
The sear zone burner has its own knob and fires through the same grate, so two-zone cooking becomes a setting rather than a plan. The E-315 spec table carries no equivalent. Even heat across three burners is its whole claim.
-
76 against 101 BTU per square inch
Same grate, same mains, a third more fire. That is the gap between a grill that roasts evenly and one that will also put a crust on a steak.
-
The cheaper grill is the discontinued one
Weber delisted the E-325 and the manual page went with it, so the paperwork starts from a model the maker no longer lists. Amazon stock is what is left. The E-315 is current, and that is the one argument for paying more for less burner.
