Folding is the whole trick of the Weber Traveler. Legs drop, the lid locks, and the grill rolls into a car. So a cover for it faces an odd question. Which Traveler is it covering, the one on its legs or the one in the trunk?
Weber’s answer for part 7770 is plain once you find it. The Amazon copy states it directly. It says the cover was “created to cover your Traveler while standing upright,” and means it. The folded grill gets nothing from it.
That makes the 7770 a camp cover for a travel grill. It goes on after you arrive, and comes off before you pack. The question is whether that half of the job is done well.
First Impressions of the Weber Traveler Premium Grill Cover
The carton is tiny, about the size of a paperback. Weber gives it as 11.20 by 7.35 by 2.70 inches. The cover inside weighs 1.1 pounds.
Shaken out, it takes the shape of a standing Traveler. The top is broad and rounded over the lid and side table. The skirt drops toward the legs and stops short of the ground. In Weber’s photographs one wheel and the folding frame stay in view below the hem.
Up on the crown, a fabric loop is stitched in for lifting. A white Weber badge marks the long front panel. Near the hem, a short hook and loop strap reaches round the cart frame.
There is nothing else to it. No drawstring, no buckle, no vent flap. It is a light black shell, one way on and one strap holding it.
Key Features of the Weber Traveler Premium Grill Cover
The list is short, so the size and the stated position matter most.
- Cut for the standing grill. Amazon labels this variation “Standing Cover,” plainly. The only other choice on that page is a trunk protector.
- A top loop handle. It gives you something to pull, so the cover lifts away in one move.
- A strap at the hem. Weber says the straps stop it blowing into your neighbor’s yard. The gallery shows one wrapping the frame by a wheel.
- Polyester, black only. Rain and snow are what Weber says the shell keeps off.
- Spot clean only. No washing machine, no hosing instructions.
- Light and small. At 1.1 pounds it costs nothing to bring along on every trip.
The Amazon field for warranty reads 2 years. Weber’s own cover page does not print a term.
Fit and coverage
Weber names one grill: the Traveler gas grill. The Compact gets a different cover, part 3400335, at the same $54.99. Ordering the wrong one is easy, because both are called Premium Grill Cover.
Set the figures beside the grill on record, Weber part 1501740. Lid shut, Weber puts that grill at 37.2 inches high and 23 front to back. The cover runs 39.3 tall, so it has 2.1 inches spare above the lid.
Depth reads the other way. The cover’s 22 inches sits 1 inch under the grill’s 23. Weber does not say where either figure is taken. One inch on paper may vanish in the cloth’s slack.
The long side runs 56.6 inches, against a grill width of 43.6. That is 13 inches more cloth across. Weber never says what the extra reaches round, so we leave it unexplained.
The labels also disagree. Weber’s page calls the 56.6 depth, while its gallery art calls it width. On the grill, it plainly runs side to side.
Folded, the grill has no cover from this line. For the drive, Weber sells a separate piece: the Traveler Cargo Protector, $59.99, numbered 7030. It is form fitted to the Traveler and keeps grease off the cargo floor. That is the second Amazon variation on this listing.
Weather protection and durability
Against rain, Weber promises resistance and stops there. It names no coating and gives no rating. Amazon’s highlight field goes further and says waterproof, but Weber’s page does not.
There is no vent, and no fade claim from either source. That matters less on a cover that lives outdoors for a long weekend. It matters more for an owner who parks the Traveler on a patio all season.
Durability gets the thinnest paperwork of all. No fabric weight is published anywhere. A 1.1 pound shell is light by design, and light usually means thin.
The 2 year term sits only in Amazon’s product field. On Weber’s side, the term never appears. You get a link to the company’s warranty hub instead.
None of this says the cover fails early. It says you are buying on Weber’s name and the cut, with little else on paper.
Handling, upkeep and value
Day to day, this cover is a pleasure. Grab the top loop, lift, and the shell comes away clean. Drop it back over a cool grill and the badge tells you which side faces front.
Fasten the strap round the frame and the wind has less to work with. On an open campsite, that one strap is the whole security plan.
Packing up is easy too. Shake out the pine needles and fold it small. Then fold the grill and load it.
Care is spot clean only. A damp cloth and some patience cover it.
Value depends on how you use the grill. At $54.99 from Weber and Amazon alike, the cover sits fairly among maker fitted covers. But it protects only the parked half of a Traveler’s life. Add the $59.99 Cargo Protector for the drive, and the trip costs two Weber parts.
Possible Weber Traveler Premium Grill Cover Complaints
- It does nothing while the grill travels. Owners expect a travel grill’s cover to cover it in transit. This one waits in the car until you set up. Read “standing” before you order.
- The fabric goes undocumented. No coating, no vent, no fabric weight, and a warranty term found only on Amazon. For a season outdoors, that is a lot to take on trust.
