Masterbuilt makes one cover for most of its Gravity line. The fit guide for the MB20080220 lists six North American grills. They are the 560, the 600, two 800s, the 900 and the AutoIgnite 545.
Those grills are not the same size. The 600 is 52.8 inches wide. The 800 is 54.7.
Yet the cover is printed at 56 by 18 by 47 inches. Its length and height read smaller than either grill’s.
So how does one cover fit six grills, and fit any of them well? And now that Amazon sells it at $39.97, what does that do to the cheaper copies?

First Impressions of the Masterbuilt Gravity Series Cover
It is a plain black cover with a white Masterbuilt badge. The stitching gives it away up close: two rows of orange thread run along the seams.
The shape matters more than the badge. One end stands taller and squarer. That block sits over the hopper tower. The rest drops lower and slopes over the lid.
Inside is a PVC liner. It makes the cover a little stiffer than plain cloth. Amazon lists it at 4.4 pounds.
One buckled strap crosses the front, low down. A cord runs through the hem.
There is nothing on top to grab. You lift it by the hem.
Key Features of the Masterbuilt Gravity Series Cover
Masterbuilt calls this its Small Digital Charcoal Grill and Smoker Cover. “Small” is a family word here. It means everything below the 1050. Here is what it carries:
- BBQ Cover cut to the Gravity profile: Two heights of roof, one per half of the grill.
- A fit rule, not just a list: Masterbuilt says it fits Gravity and AutoIgnite grills up to 900 square inches.
- Interior PVC liner: Masterbuilt adds it to stop tearing as the cover goes on and off.
- Double stitched seams: Meant to keep water from wicking through the joins.
- UV additives: Mixed into the cloth to slow fading in the sun.
- Cinch cord: It draws the hem in just above the cart wheels.
- One locking buckle: A strap across the front, clipped rather than pressed together.
- One color, one size: Black only. The 1050 cover is the other choice on the same Amazon page.
Fit and coverage
Six grills, one cover: the hopper explains it. Every grill on the fit guide shares one silhouette. A tall fuel tower stands at one end, with the cook chamber beside it.
The 800 adds a griddle. The 900 is a Costco bundle with a pizza oven. The outline barely moves.
So the cover is cut for the outline, not for a model number. On a Gravity 600, the 56 inch width leaves about three inches to play with. On a Gravity 800, that falls to a little over one inch.
The other two figures look wrong at first. The cover is printed 18 inches long and 47 tall. The 600 is printed 30.4 long and 49.7 tall.
Masterbuilt does not say how it measures either, so read those numbers with care. What the fit guide does say is that the hem stops above the wheels. It is not meant to reach the ground.
Its history holds one warning for 800 owners. Masterbuilt once sold a dedicated 800 cover, the MB20080221. It ran 20.6 inches deep. This shared cover replaced it, and it is shallower.
One small paperwork snag: the product page leaves the 560 off its bullet list. The fit guide and Amazon both include it. Trust the fit guide.
Weather protection and durability
Masterbuilt calls this cover water resistant, not waterproof. It prints no pressure rating and no coating spec. The protection rests on three things: the liner, the doubled seams and the UV additives.
That is a sensible set, with one gap. There is no vent. A Gravity chamber holds grease and ash, and damp air under a sealed cover feeds mold. Let the grill cool and dry before it goes under.
The fan and controller sit at the hopper end. That is the end the taller block covers, so a snug fit there matters most.
For durability, the liner is the real feature. It sits where covers usually fail first, on corners that scrape going on.
No cloth rating is printed for the outer face. Masterbuilt’s warranty covers all its products for one year against defects.
Handling, upkeep and value
Fitting it is quick. The tall end goes over the hopper. Pull the cord snug above the wheels, then clip the buckle.
The clip is a quiet advantage. A buckle does not clog with grit. Hook and loop straps tend to lose their grip that way.
Nothing on top gives you a grip, so the hem does the lifting. Hang it to dry before it goes in a shed.
Value is where the news is. Masterbuilt’s own page asks $69.99. Amazon had it at $39.97 on 2026-10-20.
At Masterbuilt’s own figure, the Comnova Gravity 800 cover at $36.99 is half the money.
At Amazon’s price, the gap is about $3. For that, you get the maker’s own fit list, a liner and a buckle.
Possible Masterbuilt Gravity Series Cover Complaints
- Tight on the 800: The cover clears the 800’s width by little more than an inch. A griddle or a loaded side shelf could make it strain. Comnova’s deeper 800 cover is the roomier option.
- No vent: Trapped moisture has nowhere to go. Covering only a cool, dry grill is the fix.
- The price moves: Amazon’s price shifts within a day. If it climbs back toward $69.99, Comnova’s case returns.
