We wanted to create this page to clear up any confusion about how we create the content of this website, what our relationships are with the manufacturers in the industry, etc. We believe in transparency, and we want to use this page to be as transparent as possible with all aspects of our website. We are also disclosing this information in an effort to be in accordance with the FTC’s “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising“. 16 CFR, Part 255

Receiving Free Products
In most cases for our reviews, we received the product for free in exchange for us considering writing a review (in some cases, where noted specifically, we may just provide a summary of the findings of customers elsewhere). Just because we receive a product does not mean we will publish a review. We didn’t start Avid Griller so that we could write scathing reviews of products. If we don’t think a grill lives up to our standards, then we will not write a review on our site. The content of our reviews is our true opinion (and we do our best to attempt to lead you in the right direction rather than making blanket statements that a certain grill is “the best”). With that being said, we have received free products of the following brands:
- Weber-Stephen Products, also known as Weber or Weber Grills
- Char-Griller
- Kamado Joe
- Camp Chef
- George Foreman
- Blackstone
- Napoleon
- Coleman
- Char-Broil
- Broil King
- Dyna-Glo
Affiliate Links
In some cases on our reviews you may find “affiliate links.” Essentially what that means is that if you click the link and make a purchase, we will receive a commission. This comes at no cost to you whatsoever. It simply means that the origin of the sale is tracked back to our website. We may also provide a coupon for a product that is used to track the source of a sale, for which we are then compensated.
Not all companies pay a commission, so in an effort to provide full transparency for those reading the reviews, below we disclose the list of companies with whom we have a direct affiliate relationship (either through direct link or coupons we provide). These products/companies are:
- BBQGuys
- Otto Wilde Grillers
- Traeger Grills
- BBQFans
- Grill Masters Club
- Barbeques Galore
We may also may link to general e-commerce sites where we receive an affiliate commission, though we have no direct relationship with the company that manufactures the product (eg we link to the particular grill via Amazon.com and receive a commission, though this is purely a relationship with Amazon, and not a relationship with that grill company). These other, general e-commerce sites include:
- Amazon.com
- Walmart.com
- Wayfair.com
- Lowes.com
Our Philosophy
We created this website with a few goals. First, most consumers get very confused when trying to decide on a grill. Next, liking a certain grill is a very personal choice that depends on many different factors, meaning there is certainly no one “best” grill. Lastly, there is a lot of marketing hype in the industry that can lead a lot of people away from making a good choice.
With that in mind, we just wanted to provide information that attempts to simplify the process for you. We try to break down what the key parts of each grill is and whom the grill might be good for. Opinions on the site are our own, and should be treated as opinions, not final verdicts. Generally we try to avoid making statements like, “this is the best grill,” though you will see ratings for the products, sometimes broken down by category (e.g. best gas grills). Again these are subjective scores and rankings which reflect my own opinions and personal biases. That is because finding a “best” grills depends on many different factors, like fuel, placement, space and personal preferences. We suggest you use the information on the site as a starting point for your own grill selection.
